Call for Resources

OncoLink is compiling a cancer resource guide for patients, their families and healthcare providers. Do you know an organization or website that provides a service to people with cancer and/or their families? Submit your suggestions for our resource list.

New Patient Education Resources

There are a few new patient education handouts available for use, including Aromatase Inhibitor Arthralgias and Bone Health After Cancer Therapy. As with any article on OncoLink, click on “print article” at the top right for printer friendly formatting. If you have a suggestion for a new education sheet, let us know!

Continuing Education

What’s New with the LIVESTRONG Care Plan?

Lots of exciting things are happening with the LIVESTRONG Care Plan! In November, Carolyn Vachani, MSN, RN received the 2009 Computer Based Public Education Technology Award from Sigma Theta Tau International (see photo). It is a great honor to have the care plan team’s work recognized by our colleagues. 2009 saw three publications about or including the care plan program. And, of course, we continue to expand and implement improvements in the program.

We are working to incorporate some information regarding psychological and financial issues facing survivors. At the end of each plan you will find a link for “New Normal”, an article we encourage you to print and distribute to patients with the medical late effects information.

Many nurses are using this program as a way to incorporate survivorship care into their practice, which is wonderful! We love to hear your feedback- it is often your opinions that inspire changes and improvements in the program.
