My diagnosis of multiple myeloma came abruptly after saying
goodbye to my brother, who succumbed to another type of cancer. It
was a fearful announcement, and a sense of despair overwhelmed me.
After several years of treatment, the cancer seems to be held in
check. I am now able to do the work that is such a part of my
life -- my artwork.
