You will need the following supplies: - (1) 10 cc syringe filled with 5 cc of Heparin (100 u/cc)
- alcohol wipes
- Wash your hands (see Handwashing section for more information.)
- Draw up heparin
- Wipe off the injection site of your catheter with an alcohol wipe.
- Slowly inject 5 cc heparin into the port.
- Dispose of needles and syringes in a disposable needle container.

- (1) 10 cc syringe filled with 5 cc of heparin (100 u/cc)
- alcohol wipes
- diposable needle container
- Wash your hands (see Handwashing section for more information.)
- Draw up heparin and sodium chloride
- Wipe the Injection Site of your catheter with an alcohol wipe.
- Slowly inject 5 cc of sodium chloride into your catheter.
- Infuse Administration of drug (per instructions in Mechanisms for Intravenous Administration) .
- When the administration of drug is finished, wipe the injection site with an alcohol wipe.
- Slowly inject 5 cc of sodium chloride into the port.
- Wipe the injection site with an alcohol wipe.
- Slowly inject 5 cc heparin into the port.
- Dispose of needles and syringes in a disposable needle container.
