Donna Weihofen is an oncology nutritionist at the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Medical Center. Over the years of working with cancer patients she has developed strategies for helping them maintain their nutritional wellbeing during treatment. This book is a collection of nutrition information that cancer patients and their families will find a useful resource. The book also provides over 200 recipes that meet the many nutritional needs and problems encountered by cancer patients.

The book is divided into two sections. The first section provides helpful tips for coping with the side effects of treatment such as weight loss, fatigue and nausea. She also reviews and provides sensible recommendations on popular nutrition topics such as the protective effects of fruits and vegetables in preventing cancer, herbal remedies and food safety.

The recipes section of the book is divided into categories that are especially relevant to cancer patients such as easy lunches, meatless meals, high fiber recipes, blenderized beverages, and soft, chopped and pureed foods. All the recipes combine easy preparation and good nutrition. The nutritional composition for each recipe is provided which is helpful when monitoring nutrient intake.

"The Cancer Survival Cookbook" is a bounty of nutrition tips and recipes that will help optimize the nutritional wellbeing of anyone undergoing cancer therapy. Ther information and recipes in the book are pertinent and can be easily incorporated into most patients' lives.
