Where It's At

I toss the wig,
go bald to the courthouse
in my stunning scalp
and Nordstrom suit.
I bald it to the mall, beach,
movies, poetry readings
where I'm the reader,
to holiday parties.
When people ask
what happened,
I say I'm taking a break from hair.
Because if everyone
has to be somewhere,
and I'm here bald,
why, then,
bald is where it's at.
