It Does Not Have You

Cancer - you're one of them now
You will go through hell
Will you be a victim or a survivor
Only time and attitude will tell

How you respond to the diagnosis
Is a choice you alone make
To say that it will be easy
Would be a big mistake

But you have the cancer
It does not have you
And with the right choices
You will see it through

There will be some good days
And some bad days too
It's not knowing what to expect
That will get to you

But if you fight it
With resolve that does not bend
The cancer can be beaten
You will win in the end.
